The programme
THESES is a series of short-term academic schools and workshops at IIT Kharagpur on emerging and frontier topics across disciplines.
What you gain

Lead Thematic Schools and Workshops
Design and lead focused schools and workshops on themes of current academic and research interest.
Funding and Hospitality
Funding for the travel and accommodation of invited experts and lecturers, participant hospitality, and other approved program expenses.
Networks and Collaboration
Develop academic networks and foster collaboration in emerging and interdisciplinary areas.
Program structure
How a school or workshop is built
Each school or workshop is centred on a well-defined theme and may include advanced lectures, tutorials, guided problem-solving, hands-on sessions, seminars and exploratory project work. The academic content should reflect current developments in the field.
Advanced Lectures, Tutorials and Hands-on Sessions
Expert-led lectures, tutorials and hands-on sessions may take participants from essential concepts to advanced topics and current research questions.
Seminars by Invited Experts
Invited experts may present current problems and ongoing research, giving participants exposure to emerging questions and directions in the field.
Venue
Where the program may be held
Applicants may propose the IIT Kharagpur campus, the IIT Kharagpur Research Park, Kolkata, or another suitable venue, subject to approval by the KRITI Initiative.
Eligibility
Who may propose
IIT Kharagpur faculty members may submit proposals independently or jointly with colleagues from other institutions.

Financial support
What KRITI may sanction
The KRITI Initiative may sanction financial support for approved Schools and Workshops towards admissible domestic travel and accommodation for a limited number of invited experts and participants; meal expenses for all attendees up to the approved program strength; venue and essential facility charges; and reasonable program-related contingency and incidental expenses. The components and limits of support will be communicated with the approval, subject to the availability of funds and applicable Institute norms.

How proposals are reviewed
Programs are selected on academic merit and kept focused in scale to enable close interaction among participants, faculty and invited experts. Proposals should demonstrate:

Need and relevance
A clear theme, objectives, timeliness, target participants and expected outcomes.

Program design
An appropriate duration and interactive structure that supports learning, engagement and collaboration.

Academic strength
Suitable speakers, resource persons, topics and curricular plan.

Diversity and inclusion
Appropriate consideration in the choice of organisers, speakers and participants.
Submitted proposals will be reviewed by the Program Committee followed by final approval from the KRITI Advisory Committee.
